Leopold Street murder case nears end

– Addresses to jury today
THIS morning, defence counsel in the Leopold Street murder case, Mr. Peter Hugh, will address the 12-member jury.
He will be followed by State Prosecutor, Miss Rhondel Weaver, who, in association with Miss Teshana James for the  prosecution, will make her final address to the jury.
Presiding Judge Miss Dawn Gregory is expected to sum up the evidence to the jury tomorrow after which she would hand over  the case to them for consideration and verdict.
The case for the prosecution is that Terrence Moffat, now dead, was with other persons in Leopold Street on April 2, 2006,   when he was allegedly shot and wounded by Tarel Edwards, called ‘Troy Ford’.
In his defence, Edwards, in a sworn statement from the witness box said that Moffat had owed him some money in relation to  a drug deal and that Moffat, who was armed, became angry and attacked him with the weapon because he demanded his money.  During an attempt to disarm his attacker, Edwards said that Moffat was accidentally shot.
