Responsibilities of School Inspectorate to continue in 2011

-with enhanced focus on accountability
THE functions of the school inspectorate will continue this year, with enhanced focus being placed on schools administration, according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon.
“Cabinet opted to continue its engagement with the school inspectorate in the year 2011; by that it is to be understood that the inspectorate would continue to report directly to Cabinet,” he said.
He added that while focus will be placed exclusively on schools administration, emphasis will be placed on accountability.
Over the years, reports made by the inspectorate are usually channeled to the Education Ministry for actions to be taken.
The school inspectorate, which is a constituted arm of the Ministry of Education, has been in existence since the inception of the local school system.
