Surujbally updates PSC on 2011 elections preparations

CHAIRMAN of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), Dr. Steve Surujbally, has reportedly updated representatives of the Private Sector Commission (PSC) about the status of the preparations for the conduct of the General and Regional Elections slated for later this year. This was done at a meeting between Dr. Surujbally and the PSC’s representatives at a meeting held on Monday at the Office of the PSC.
A statement from GECOM said the meeting was held in order so that the PSC could be apprised of the current status of (i) the National Identification Card distribution exercise,
(ii) preparations for the conduct of Claims and Objections exercise as a prerequisite for the holding of the General and Regional Elections – 2011, and (iii) the overall
preparations for the conduct of these elections.
Dr. Surujbally assured the PSC team, which was headed by Mr. Ramesh Dookhoo, Chairman of the Organisation, that GECOM is satisfied at the pace of implementation of the tasks listed in the Work Plan for the elections.
The PSC representatives expressed gratitude to Dr. Surujbally for the information received and pledged to give all possible support towards the successful conduct of the General and Regional Elections – 2011.
The PSC team included Mr. Roubinder  Rambarran – Executive Director, and Mr. Komal Ramnauth, President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
