Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, yesterday said that so far they have been unable to make a breakthrough in the Monday night murder of vendor Sanjay Persaud, 40, of
Sisters’ Village, West Bank Demerara. Persaud succumbed to a gunshot wound the next morning.
Greene told reporters that several other vendors were around when Persaud was attacked outside the Bourda market in the city, and someone should be able to identify the killer.
He added that in light of the recent brazen robberies in the city, there will be a heightened police presence beginning two weeks before Mashramani, and also leading up to the
Easter weekend.
