ACTING Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday remanded Robert Cox to prison, pending sentencing on conviction for larceny from the person. The convict (no address given) pleaded guilty to the charge, which said, on January 13, he stole a gold chain and band, valued $140,000, from Bernadette King.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, told the court that Cox snatched the jewellery from the virtual complainant and escaped but was arrested, subsequently.
However, the prisoner said he only took the chain not the band and the magistrate ordered a probation report on Cox, prior to sentencing him on February 1.
