National U-20 footballers leave for Suriname

..…Coach Hercules confident
GUYANA’s national U-20 football team left the country this morning for Suriname where they will be engaged in the CFU’s final Group Qualification competition to determine the final spot for the CONCACAF World Cup play-offs set for Guatemala in April.

Newly installed Head Coach, Collie Hercules is up-beat about the team’s chances and expressed confidence in his charges doing well against their other challengers: Bermuda, Netherlands Antilles and the host Nation. The games which were originally scheduled for the natural turf at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium have now been switched to artificial Turf due to the recent persistent rains which have been prevailing in the former Dutch Colony.
The full Guyana contingent headed for Suriname are: Players – Colin Nelson (Captain), Richie Richards, Dorville Stewart, Ryan Crandon, Calvin DeSouza, Deshawn Joseph, Delory Ferdinand, Keoma Sullivan, Les Chalres Critchlow, Trenton Lashley, Bevon Moseley, Eon Alleyne, Trayon Bobb, Brandon Beresford, Shavez Hendricks, Olvis Mitchell, Marco Marcos, Mortimer Ramdehol, Telson McKinnon and Sheldon Holder. The Officials accompanying the players are:  Aubrey Hutson, Manager; Collie Hercules, Head Coach; Keith O’jeer and Brian Joseph, Assistant Coaches; Andre Hazel, Goalkeeper Coach; Michelle Jackman, Physiotherapist, and Lyndon France, Technical Development Officer.
Last Saturday the young footballers won their final warm up game against BK Western Tigers with a comfortable 2-0 victory at the GFC ground.
On target were Telson McKinnon and US-based Brandon Beresford. Guyana begin their campaign against Bermuda on Wednesday and then take on Suriname two days later. They conclude against the Netherlands Antilles on Sunday, January 23rd.
