HUGH Kurt, 42, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday and blamed stupidity for committing a burglary.
The defendant (no address given) pleaded guilty to having, on January 11, with intent to commit a felony, broken and entered the store owned by Mahendra Persaud. Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant received a telephone call informing him that someone was inside his business place, and when he went there, he saw movements inside. He immediately called the Police.
The Prosecutor said Police responded promptly and found Kurt inside the building.
Kurt admitted he is sorry for the stupid act, and confessed to previously serving one month imprisonment for unlawful possession.
He said he had been a taxi driver but an arsonist burnt his motor car.
The magistrate ordered a probation report on his background and postponed sentencing him, until January 28.
