During the just concluded holiday season, members of GUYWID (Guyanese Women in Development), a charitable and NGO organisation, made several donations to orphanages in the East Berbice, Region 6 area. Kids of the Children of Promise, Camal Home, Anjuman Orphanage and Canaan Home were lavishly treated within a one-week period, according to a press statement from GUYWID.

The organization said gifts and groceries were also distributed. In making the presentation, Mrs. Priya Nasir, member of the executive, stated that GUYWID believes in serving the less fortunate and providing an opportunity for them to experience the joy of the festive season.
She pledged that her organization would not only give during the festive season but all year round.
In closing, she pleaded to the public to support GUYWID’s fund-raising activities during 2011, for all funds raised will go to charity.
