THE People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has expressed deep concern at the attack on the home of Cde. Philomena Sahoye-Shury. At approximately 22:00hrs on January 7th, 2011, an incendiary device was thrown at Mrs. Sahoye’s Section K Campbellville home. Mrs. Sahoye-Shury is a member of the PPP’s Central Committee and a leading personality in the PPP/C administration. She is well-known for her energetic work in all communities at grass roots level.
“This attack on the home of Mrs. Shury has come at a time when several incidents, including the explosion at Stabroek Market, and attempted arson on schools on the East Coast have taken place and these may not be unconnected,” according to a statement from the PPP.
“If the action is intended to intimidate Mrs. Shury we wish to say that it will not succeed.
“The PPP urges the security forces to intensify their efforts to catch the perpetrators and prevent the peaceful and tranquil situation in our country from being disrupted,” the statement concluded.
