CHRISTOPHER Kitt, 21, of East La Penitence Squatting Area, was remanded to prison, by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, on a robbery under arms charge.
He is charged, indictably, with having on January 2, being armed with a gun, robbed Clarence Tyson of a gold band valued $30,000.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the accused, submitting that the court take a serious view of the prevalence of the offence.
The prosecutor said the virtual complainant is a pensioner who was on his way to an Internet café when the defendant attacked him and was lashed on his face several times because he refused to hand over the jewel.
The prisoner has to make his next appearance in another Court, to which his case has been transferred, on January 7.
