Seven escape serious injury in house collapse

A HOUSE occupied by six religious missionaries and an old woman crashed to the ground at Dredge Creek, Essequibo early Tuesday morning.
It was reported that the foundation of the wooden building gave way after it was weakened by flood waters that remained on the land for several days.
The owner of the property, Mrs. Agatha Joseph, 55, had lived alone before she accommodated the visiting missionaries, who are currently crusading in the area.
Many other residents hurried to rescue of the occupants after hearing the loud noise from the collapsing structure and screams for help.
However, no one was seriously injured but Joseph wept over her loss.
The missionaries and villagers are helping to erect a little shed for her but she is appealing for assistance to accomplish the task before Christmas. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
