MAGISTRATE Latchmin of the Sparendaam Magistrate Court has found the proprietor of Starlite Drive In, guilty of noise nuisance as complained to the police by Mr. Roshan Khan of Atlantic Gardens, on May 18, 2009. For details of the Magistrate’s ruling and of the prosecution’s presentations, please refer to the clerk or Magistrate of the Sparendaam Magistrate Court.
This is a very significant ruling of this country as it pertains to noise nuisance. It is extremely symbolic and the nation needs to be made aware of this. People need to report noise nuisance to the police, provide statements and go for the long haul in the courts in order to achieve victory. Noise nuisance is destructive to people’s health and well being, even to the point of causing death. It disturbs children from studying and working people from resting.
Mr. Roshan Khan is extremely grateful to all the newspapers and television stations which published letters and interviewed him on noise nuisance, and in particular about the noise at Starlite Drive In. He is encouraging all media houses to do a serious article of this ruling and let the people know of it.
Mr. Roshan Khan is also making himself available to any Radio and Television Station who may wish to interview him of this great victory. He wishes to also inform the Media Houses that he has taken a discussion to file contempt charges against Starlite Drive In and its proprietor, the promoter and all sponsors of the last most vulgar and noisy show held at the Starlite Drive In on 6th November, 2010.
