THE bloated body of a man, whose name was given as Roger Smith, who roamed the Kitty area where he resided was found floating face down in the Vlissingen Road canal yesterday morning by residents. Residents said that the man often traversed the area and drank heavily but noted that they saw him alive two days ago. It is suspected that he was in the canal for sometime prior to the discovery.The police were summoned and managed to haul the body out of the canal where they checked it for marks of violence amidst a large crowd after they taped off the area.
It is unsure whether the man’s body bore marks of violence since it was swollen and in an early stage of decomposition.
