Bangladesh cruise past Zimbabwe

(REUTERS) – Spinner Abdur Razzak claimed four for 14 to help Bangladesh secure a comprehensive 65-run victory in the third one-day international against Zimbabwe.
Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, the hosts recovered from a nervy start to reach 246 for seven with captain Shakib al Hasan (73) and Mushfiqur Rahim (63) doing the damage at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
No Zimbabwe batsman apart from Prosper Utseya (67) could stage a decent response, as Razzak’s superb effort helped dismiss the visitors for 181 to give the Tigers an emphatic win and a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Bangladesh made a poor start to their innings when Tamim Iqbal was out without a run scored, trapped lbw by Chris Mpofu, and they were five for two when Junaid Siddique quickly returned to the pavilion for one, caught by Utseya off Shingirai Masakadza.
Utseya then snared Raqibul Hasan lbw for 12 and opener Imrul Kayes (33), who gloved a delivery behind.
Mushfiqur helped the hosts to 187 but was eventually caught at backward square leg, while Shakib and Suhrawadi Shuvo (eight) followed towards the end of the innings.
Zimbabwe suffered early blows in their run-chase as Razzak cleaned up the top order, removing Chamu Chibhabha (seven), Hamilton Masakadza (three) and Brendan Taylor (15) within the first 10 overs.
Shafiul Islam found Craig Ervine’s edge in the 14th over to have him caught behind for five, and in the next over Mashrafe Mortaza clean-bowled Tatenda Taibu for three to leave the visitors reeling at 40 for five.
Regis Chakabva (five) was trapped lbw by Razzak soon after when he tried an ambitious sweep.
Utseya and Graeme Cremer stemmed the flow of wickets with a 48-run seventh-wicket stand, but that was broken when the latter was dismissed by Shakib for 24.
Shingirai (14) and Ray Price (14) could not provide much respite despite some patient strokeplay, both falling to Shafiul who finished with four for 43.
Utseya remained the stand-out performer for Zimbabwe, getting his first half-century against Test-playing opposition, as well as hitting Shakib for two sixes and a boundary in the 48th over – but his wicket off Shafiul signalled the end.
