MINISTER of Health, Dr Leslie Ramsammy, was reported to have said among other things that: “Health officials, CEO’s or Head doctors need to be more vigilant in ensuring that protocols are followed. His Ministry needs to better monitor what transpires at various hospitals because they are finding out some things only when there are problems and they shouldn’t wait for problems to occur”.
His statement pointed out what has been the problem with too many officials in Guyana, they are reactive not proactive. I believe Officials should try using the 33% solution in three areas of managing –  restricting their administrative tasks to high level tasks,  while delegating others to a top aide, monitoring that the system is functioning as it should at all levels and finally finding ways of providing better service at the best cost.
