– says employees involved in this ‘illegal action’ are aware of options available to the company
THE Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL) said that, without any prior notice, members of the National Association of Agricultural, Clerical and Industrial Employees (NAACIE), particularly from its Networks (Transmission & Distribution) and Generation Departments, have taken industrial action from 07:00 hrs yesterday.
GPL said it has been meeting with NAACIE over the past weeks on increases in salaries and allowances for 2010 but while some progress has been made, no agreement has been reached.
“NAACIE is fully aware of the procedure which has to be followed leading to industrial action in an essential service but this knowledge has not informed its action, or that of its members,” GPL stated.
The company also made it clear that “persons involved in this illegal action are aware of the options available to GPL.”
The company said action has been taken to limit the disruption to it’s service and consumers will be kept abreast of developments.
