Winston Murray’s condition unchanged

People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) veteran, Mr. Winston Murray, remains ‘brain dead’ and on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Medical Services Director Dr. Madan Rambarran told the Guyana Chronicle that the there has still been no approach by the family for any changes to be made.
“Right now Mr. Murray is resting in our ICU…we continue to give him the support we can…as to whether he will remain on life support, the family has not approached the hospital with any decision on this,” he said.
Rambarran noted that when a decision is made, the hospital will deal with it “accordingly.”
Meanwhile, Murray’s son, Mark Winston Murray, said the family is coping as best they can in this difficult time.
He said other relatives are expected from overseas, and when they are all here a decision will be made about Mr. Murray’s fate.

Murray has been unconscious in the ICU since last Thursday, where his condition is still listed as critical with poor prognosis.
A CT scan soon after his admission revealed that Murray was dealing with severe hemorrhage in his brain. He also suffered from diabetes and hypertension.
The 69-year-old Member of Parliament was rushed to the Balwant Singh Hospital Thursday evening after he collapsed at Houston outside a lotto ticketing booth, before reaching his home at Continental Park, East Bank Demerara. He was subsequently taken to the GPHC.
