THIEVES reportedly stole money belonging to members of the Voice of Faith Miracle Ministries Church at 4th Avenue, Mongrippa Hill, Bartica, Essequibo River. Pastor and founder of the ministry Mr. Compton Bacchus told the Guyana Chronicle that the money – some $179,000 – was kept in an attaché case in his house which is located at the back of the church.
Pastor Bacchus said he only missed the attaché case last Friday after he went to put some more money and could not find it.
The pastor said he enquired from his wife if she moved the case and when she said ‘no’, it was then he realised that his house might have been raided.
The pastor said a search was made around the nearby bushes and the damaged case was recovered with the church document and $10,000 in cash.
The matter is now engaging the police at Bartica.
