…in Guyana to talk about Hospitality Assured programme
MINISTER of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Mr. Manniram Prashad, on Monday, met with lead Hospitality Assured Advisor in the region, Ms. Shirlene Nibbs of  Antigua, who is presently in Guyana to enlighten stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sector on the Hospitality Assured Certification Programme. Hospitality Assured is an internationally recognised certification, owned by the Institute of Hospitality in the United Kingdom, and licensed by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) for use in the Caribbean as ‘the standard for service and business excellence in Caribbean tourism’.
Minister Prashad welcomed and endorsed the initiative, and underscored the importance of improved quality, services and standards as Guyana’s tourism and hospitality sector continues to expand.
From 2010 to 2012, CTO is seeking to actively encourage tourism and hospitality businesses in the Caribbean to sign on to Hospitality Assured and reap its benefits.
During her three-day visit here, the CTO official will be meeting with various players in the industry, both from the public and private sector.
