Carib Beer Heroes Cup Bishun routs PSC as DCC complete innings victory

TOTARAM Bishun snared his second five wicket haul of the match, as Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) completed an innings and 126 runs victory over Police Sports Club (PSC) in their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) organised Carib Beer Heroes Cup first division match yesterday.
Resuming on their overnight 306-1 with Trevon Griffith on 142 and Leron Primo 65, DCC went onto make 397-6 declared, with Griffith adding 26 runs to his total before he was dismissed for 168 (11×6, 6×4), while Primo and Darwin Christian were dismissed for 68 and 65 respectively.
Christian struck four sixes and one four in his innings as DCC went in search of quick runs against the bowling of Jason Heyliger who took 3-83 and Gurrick with 2-74 for PSC who were bowled out for 128 after lunch, as Bishun took 8-45 to end with match figures of 13-87.
Heyliger returned with the bat to top score with 24 (3×4) while Cecil Adams 21 (2×6, 1×4) and Arif Habib 19 (1×4, 1×6) offered support, as no other batsman found a solution to Bishun’s left hand back of the arm bowling that has earned him 33 wickets in the tournament to date, one more than Heyliger.
At the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, the home team defeated Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by 115 runs in their encounter, despite the batting of Danny Narayan and Steven Jacobs.
Resuming on their overnight score of 37 without loss with Ricardo Jadunauth and Jeetendra Sookdeo on 23 and 12 respectively, GCC went on to score 250-6 declared, with Sookdeo top scoring with 86 (9×4, 3×6), while Jadunauth made 49, Robin Bacchus 32, Leon Johnson 25 and Vishal Singh 22.
Steven Sankar took 2-37 for MSC who were set 279 for victory, but were bowled out for 164, 45 minutes before the end of the day’s play, with Narayan who added 78 for the fourth wicket with Jacobs, leading the way with 56 that was decorated with eight fours while Jacobs struck five fours in his 46.
Carlos La Rose offered support with 20 but against the bowling of Jadunauth who took 4-45 (match figures 8-69) and Chidanand Shivram 2-9, MSC found it hard to accumulate runs and fell short by a massive 115 runs.
Across at Camp Road, Everest Cricket Club (ECC) joined DCC and GCC in winners row, when they recorded and innings and 25 runs victory over Transport Sports Club (TSC) thanks to Chanderpaul Hemraj’s 148.
Resuming on their overnight score of 168-5 in reply to TSCs first innings score of 102, ECC reached 391 with Hemraj, who resumed on 74, doubling his overnight score while receiving support from Troy Gonsalves who had made 58 the previous day.
Kevin Ross and Azim Azeez shared the wickets for TSC who were bowled out for 170 in their second innings, despite Stephen Alves’ 87 and Carl Rambharose 22,as Gonsalves returned to claim four wickets for ECC.
