THE police reported yesterday that logger Cleveland Hetemeyer, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, was shot and killed on Thursday by two gunmen some 90 miles up the Berbice River. The report said Hetemeyer, with three other workers, were approached by the armed men who demanded their boat and engine. Hetemeyer refused and was shot, while the others ran away. The perpetrators then escaped with the boat and engine.
A team of police ranks has been dispatched to the area to conduct investigations.
