Kishore wins Grand Coastal Medal Play golf tourney

TEENAGER Avinda Kishore claimed another title over the weekend when he emerged winner of the annual Grand Coastal Hotel Medal Play golf tournament Saturday at Lusignan Golf Club. The 16-year-old golfer shot a net 63 from a gross 73 playing off a 10 handicap.
Bholawram Deo finished second with a net score of 68 from a gross 84 playing off a 16 handicap.
The third spot went to Patrick Prashad who shot a net 69 from a gross 77 playing off an 8 handicap
Jerome Khan was Nearest to the Pin.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Grand Coastal Inn, Finance Comptroller Satrughan “Sawran” Lucknauth said golfers could look forward to a much bigger tournament next year.
He said Grand Coastal Inn will be working closely with the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) to stage an international tournament during Easter weekend next year.
Lucknauth said players from the Caribbean and North America would be invited to compete.
He said his company and LGC work closely to the extent that visitors to the hotel could utilize the course that is approximately four miles from the hotel.
LGC Captain Prashad thanked the Grand Coastal for sponsoring the tournament for another year and pointed out that   Mokesh Daby, the Hotel’s Chief Executive Officer is an ardent golf fan who has always shown an interest in supporting golf in Guyana.
Prashad said that Daby offers discounts to golfers who visit for the annual Guyana Open championships annually.
