A FIFTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD fisherman died at Suddie Hospital Saturday night after the vehicle in which he was travelling, driven by his brother, plunged into a drainage trench off Exmouth Public Road.
The deceased, Adjadhie Manniram known as ‘Biaya’, of Hampton Court, was sitting in the tray of the pick-up when tragedy struck around 02:00 h Saturday morning.
The brothers were proceeding to Charity, also on Essequibo Coast, to collect fish from their boat that was moored at Charity Wharf in Pomeroon River.
It was reported that the driver, Mohan Manniram, apparently, lost control of the vehicle after a wheel blow out.
His sibling was hurled out of the tray when the vehicle hit the water and he was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state and succumbed there several hours later.
The brother who was at the wheel is in Police custody assisting with investigations into the road fatality.
