AN ex-Guyana Defence Force (GDF) soldier is the sixth person to be charged in connection with the recent murders of the two gold dealers at Bartica.
Twenty-four-year old Keron Herbert (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday on a murder charge.
He is accused of having, between September 4 and 5, murdered Ramdeo Deonarine and Jainarine Raghubar.
Herbert told the Court he was unable to stand and was allowed to sit in the dock.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said, since the bodies of the two victims were found, Herbert was being sought for questioning and a wanted bulletin was issued before he was arrested.
Herbert was remanded to prison until October 27.
Deonarine and Raghubar were discovered dead and bound on the kitchen floor of a Second Avenue, Bartica house where they would, usually, trade in gold, and $25M, gold and a large diamond were amidst the missing booty.
Rawle Newton was previously charged with the same capital offence on September 20 while his brother, Michael Newton; a policeman, Marlon Letlow; an immigration officer, Linden Scotland and Kim Bunbury faced charges of aiding and abetting the alleged murderers.
