Cosmetologist charged with passport forgery, false pretence

COSMETOLOGIST Rhonda Ward, 32, appeared in Court yesterday, on charges of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence.
The accused, of Lot 30 Howes Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, was not required to plea after Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry read the particulars of the indictable offences to her.
One of the allegations against Ward is that, between September 1 and 24, with intent to defraud, she conspired with persons unknown to forge a Guyana passport in favour of herself, pretending to be Jacquelyn Graham, knowing it to be false.
The other charge said, on September 24, with intent to defraud, she obtained $2M from Sherry Persaud, by falsely pretending that she was in a position to acquire a house lot for her.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, did not object to the bail application by Defence Counsel Patrice Henry and Ward was ordered to post a total of $550,000 surety until November 3.
