“The ghost writers are back, Kaieteur News September 27, 2010” Seasnarine is that the best that you can do to distract people from the real issue here; to hide your own opportunism? I didn’t realise that birds were afraid of ghosts. Keep on chirping Singh. After all, you must keep your eyes on the prize. Call it what you like, the policyholders that are now benefitting from President Jagdeo’s intervention in the Clico nightmare look beyond the desperation that so shamelessly becomes you, to understand the true facts of this matter.
Fact #1: Clico policyholders are nonchalant and indifferent to your repugnance for Jagdeo’s policies. Careful Singh, you’re beginning to sound like a woman scorned. But I will not be brought to your level. You are in a special category all by yourself. I refuse to employ your dishonest tactics. The facts will show without a doubt, that President Jagdeo’s interest in repaying policyholders is genuine and doable.
Fact #2: Clico has 11,000 small policyholders, and as the President has promised, policyholders are being repaid; payouts started today and are expected to last for four weeks. As promised, small policyholders will be repaid first, as they are the most vulnerable in this situation. The G$ 600M that Clico has available to do this, is an insignificant figure compared to the amount of money it actually owes policyholders. President Jagdeo is drawing money from other sources, such as the Petroleum Stabilization Fund (research that carefully Singh; for your own perusal). For the record, just who the hell are you to determine where the President goes or does not go? Or which meetings he presides over. The President does not need your approval in order to make any decision. Had the president neglected to intercede, policyholders would still be waiting for the prolonged liquidation process that you are clearly ill-advised of, to conclude.
Fact #3: It is only as a result of Jagdeo’s careful and clever approach to this problem that the people who were undeservingly hurt by Clico’s collapse are today being repaid their hard-earned money. The President’s Clico intervention was not geared at generating publicity or press coverage; it was undertaken with the interests of Guyana’s people at heart. Rise above yourself Singh. Politics aside, “the President’s direct intervention in this fiasco was absolute and necessary to effect the change policyholders so desperately hoped for, since as liquidator, the capacity of the Bank of Guyana to do this is severely limited.” Take that to the bank Singh! Heck, that’s where Clico policyholders are heading!
Keep on chirping Singh
