Son remanded pending sentence for damaging father’s property

ALEEM Jabar (no address given), who is charged with damaging property belonging to his father, Abdul Jabar, was  yesterday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge which said, on September 15, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged one $160,000 motor car windscreen and other things, with a total value of $270,000.
The son told the Court he is sorry for what he did and it would not happen again.
However, Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the younger Jabar  is an alleged drug addict and, that day, he had an argument with his father, in whose home he lives.
The Prosecutor said the son picked up a piece of wood and destroyed the things mentioned in the particulars of offence.
The magistrate ordered a probation report and postponed the case, pending sentence on September 20.
