GoG donates US$30, 000 to Government of Pakistan

The Guyana Government will donate US$30, 000 to the Government of Pakistan to facilitate the provision of relief to the millions of people affected by the severe flooding in that country.
The donation is in response to an appeal to the international community by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for assistance, a release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Meanwhile, President Bharrat Jagdeo, in a message to his Pakistani counterpart, President Asif Ali Zardari, and which was sent on August 4 last, conveyed the sympathies of the Government and people of Guyana to the Government and people of Pakistan.
And in taking the opportunity to salute the people of Pakistan for their courage and resilience, President Jagdeo expressed the hope that the responses of local authorities and the international community would help the country to rebound from the tragedy.
