St Vincent, T&T ready for showpiece Women's League final today

KINGSTOWN, St Vincent – The stage is all set for the final of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Women’s 50-Over League.
Today defending champions Trinidad and Tobago will face host nation St Vincent and the Grenadines at Arnos Vale Playing Field 1. First ball is 10:00 h (09:00 h Jamaica Time).
Trinidad and Tobago are confident they can repeat last year’s triumph in Guyana. St Vincent and the Grenadines are also confident – they are playing on home soil and will have the support of the vocal home crowd. A good match is in store. The Vincentians had some tough battles on their way to the final.
However, they have demonstrated their depth with some good batting by the lower-order and great variety in their bowling attack. They finished second to Trinidad and Tobago in Zone B – losing the head-to-head contest by just 13 runs at the same venue where the final will be played – and then fought back strongly to beat Jamaica in Monday’s semi-final.
The Trinis know they have to bring their ‘A’ game. They did so in the preliminary round matches and also the semi-final win over Barbados, when they stifled the Bajans in the last 10 overs. They have a very good all-round team, with batting all the way down to Number 11, and the tournament’s best bowling attack – led mainly by their spinners.
Other matches today:
Third/Fourth place play-off: Barbados v Jamaica at Arnos Vale 2
Fifth/Sixth place play-off: Guyana v St Lucia at Stubbs
Seventh/Eighth place play-off: Dominica v Grenada at Victoria Park.
