Two more countries ban corporal punishment

TWO more countries have banned all forms of corporal punishment of children: Tunisia, in North Africa, on July 26, 2010 and Poland, in Eastern Europe, on August 1, 2010, bringing the total number of countries that have banished this barbarity to the dustbin of history to 28.  (http://www.endcorporalpunishment.org/pages/frame.html) In the 25 years from 1979 to 2004, fourteen nations achieved full prohibition of corporal punishment, while in the last six years, the total has doubled.
Corporal punishment in schools has been abolished in 110 countries, including 37 European states, 21 African nations, China and India.
