– top model winner in casual category
GUYANESE born 18-year old Rafieya Aasieya Husain walked away with 4th runner up for National America 2010 Miss Teen Virginia, plus winner of the top model competition and winner of the casual wear category.  The three days of competition held last weekend at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Reston, Virginia was filled with fun, laughter and lots of memories. The delegates competed in six segments, Top Model, Casual Wear, Photogenic, Spokes Model, Talent, and Actress. Aasieya walked away with 10 Trophies, cash prizes and a scholarship to Cameo Models Internationale, Inc., to pursue a Master Fashion College Development. She won in the following categories: Winner – Top Model and Casual Wear, 1st Runner Up – Spokes Model and Miss Photogenic, and 2nd Runner Up – Actress. The 18 year old  also received four additional Trophies for Most Academic Achievements, Most Promising Model, Spirit of America, and Virginia State Finalist.
Ms. Husain believes that all young women should strive to be their best selves, in developing their values, establishing their character, and always having the mindset to learn from their mistakes. She hopes that young women everywhere should not fear for their mishaps, but rather continue cultivating them as learning experiences in all that they do.
The 18 year old left Guyana 8 years ago and is currently a freshman at Marymount University pursuing her Undergraduate in Business Administration. She also volunteers for Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic., a Non Profit Organization that provides free health services to patients with no insurance and for Abolished Child Trafficking Now (ACT)., a nonprofit that has become a sizeable philanthropic force for combating child trafficking.
During the period November 23 – 28, 2010 Aasieya would be competing in the National ALL Competitions in the beautiful Disneyland, California. She would be competing in all the categories, including The National Ambassador’s Title, the Cover Girl Title and the 2010 National All America Miss.
Aasieya gives special thanks to her Mom Salena Azaad and Aunt Zalena Khan for all their love support and for believing in her. She wants to give special thanks to her cousins Salma Ferouz and Adil, brothers Akram and Muaaz, Uncle Ahmad and Grandma Zabida Khan.   Not forgetting her Dad Jameel Husain in Guyana who she missed very much.
