Over the years the Guyana Watch Incorporated has been sponsoring several children in need of heart surgery for treatment at the Westchester Medical Centre, the primary academic medical center and University Hospital of New York Medical College (NYMC).
Only recently the public private partnership enabled the Caribbean Heart Institute (CHI) to realize the dream of conducting paediatric heart surgeries at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by a team of experienced medical professionals.
The team includes two surgeons, two anesthesiologists, two perfusionists, three cardiologists and four critical care nurses drawn from the Long Island Jewish, Mount Sinai, Montefiore and Maimonides medical centres, Texas Children’s Hospital and the Miami Hospital. (GINA)
