Fitness club owner, wounding victim both charged

After fight…
KEWEN Besedo Langhorne, owner of a fitness club in King Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was put on $100,000 bail yesterday, when he faced an indictable charge of felonious wounding, in front of Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo.
Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting in New Amsterdam Court, said the alleged offence was committed at Rainbow Bar, on Republic Road, in the same town, where the accused unlawfully and maliciously wounded Alonzo Roethoff, with intent to main, disfigure, disable or to cause him grievious bodily harm.
The Prosecutor said the incident occurred last July 3, when the two men had a misunderstanding that led to a scuffle and a fight.
Roethoff was charged with assaulting Langhorne and he was allowed pre-trial freedom on a $10,000 bond until the two return to Court on September 3.
