West Berbice mother delivers triplets at GPHC

Twenty-two-year-old, Ms. Tricia Persaud, is the mother of the newest set of triplets who are now resting in the Neo-natal Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). The woman, from West Coast of Berbice, delivered three boys Tuesday at around 21:30 hours.
A release from GPHC termed the delivery miraculous since Persaud’s first boy was delivered while she was on the East Coast of Demerara, on the route to a medical facility.
The statement added that the other two boys were delivered by GPHC’s skilled nurses in the patient’s car in GPHC’s compound, since she was already in labour and the staff could not risk more time in taking the patient to the delivery room.
The first of the triplets weighed 900g, the second, 800g; and the third, 720g.
They are currently being incubator-nursed and they appear to be healthy.
Persaud was a mother of one before these triplets arrived however she said both sides of her family have seen twin births.
