D&I rangers re-assigned following complaints by farmers

REGIONAL Chairman of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh, has announced that, following complaints from farmers about the attitude of some to managing the drainage and irrigation (D&I) network, the Administration has re-assigned all rangers to different areas of responsibility across Essequibo Coast.
He said several of the planters also complained to Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Robert Persaud during his recent visit to the Region.
As a result, ranger Swaran Singh will now be responsible for Walton Hall to Dartmouth while Rupert Mangroo takes over from Better Hope to Evergreen.
Mohamed Ram Ramawad will be in charge of C1 to C6 and the State Farm and Balwanlall Mohanlall is posted to the Somerset and Berks and Cozier areas.
Other assignments are Prakash Barran (Manikuru to New Road); Showdat Mohan (Westbury to Andrews); Sarwan Kumar (Conservancy to Main Canal); Rajesh Chattergoon (Coffee Grove to Devonshire Castle); Lakeram Sahadeo (Mainstay to Anna Regina);  Denesh Anrood (Capoey to Land of Plenty); Devanand Persaud (Zorg-en-Vligt to Little Alliance); Harry Persaud (Conservancy to Golden Fleece);Vickram Boodram (Middlesex to Maria’s Lodge); Latchman Hansraj (Conservancy to Ituribisi) and Deneshwar Dass (Good Hope to Vilvoordeen).
The complainants, who want more action from them in the fields, alleged that some rangers were not visiting the backlands, as required by the Regional Administration, to check on Government D&I structures and conservancies, irrigation checks and drainage trenches.
