THE Government of Guyana, under the Capital Works Programme in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), is spending $40.1M to construct and rehabilitate 13 streets on Essequibo Coast.
Regional Chairman, Mr. Alli Baksh, said the targeted roadways, in Onderneeming, Pomona, Maria’s Lodge, Reliance, Windsor Castle, Richmond, Dartmouth, Danielstown and Affiance, will be built or rehabilitated with sand, loam, crusher run and paved.
He said another $51.9M is currently being expended on repairs to Suddie and Charity hospitals and other Government buildings while rehabilitation is ongoing on several schools across the Region.
Baksh said $1M is being used on Wakapoa Primary School and $900,000 on St. John’s Nursery, both in Lower Pomeroon.
He said the allocation for Siriki Primary, also in Pomeroon, is $1M; $1.3M for Charity Secondary School; a similar sum for Hampton Court Primary and $1.1M for Walton Hall Nursery.
Repairs to Better Success Nursery are costing $800,000 and Jacklow Primary, in Pomeroon, $762,000, Baksh said.
He also announced that a $900,000 chain link fence is being put up around Eighth of May Secondary School at Dartmouth, on Essequibo Coast, too.
