Juice factory commissioned at Canal No.1

– a vast number of farmers will benefit, says Agri Minister
Minister of Agriculture, Robert Persaud, yesterday commissioned the Al-Aziz Splash Inc., a juice factory, at 13 L’esperance, Canal No.1, West Bank Demerara, and lauded the initiative
by the local businessman.
Persaud said the enterprise will have a significant impact not only on the community, but also on the country, as a vast number of farmers will benefit. He said the establishment will now allow farmers to make full use of their produce.
The minister pointed out that the investment fits into the government’s vision of transforming Guyana and the government fully supports such undertakings.
“We need more investors like Mr. Abdul Aziz. It’s our country and we have to truly realize its potentials. The time has come for every Guyanese to recognize that there are tremendous opportunities here. Let us have more manufacturers like Mr. Aziz and provide quality products which will boost our economy” said Persaud.
Recognizing the high cost of energy for such an establishment, the minister highlighted that the government is presently moving to finalize the Hydro project, which will benefit all.
Also present at the opening was Sheik Moeen-ul Hack, Director of the Education Department at Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG).
In his remarks, he congratulated the owner of the establishment for venturing into a business that will create employment as well as utilize the produce of the local farmers.
Hack said, from a religious point of view, the effort taken by Mr. Aziz is blessed by the Almighty, especially by creating employment through manufacturing which will help to feed people.

“All of us have been blessed in one way or another. Let us utilize the favors of God to do things that will reward us in years to come” Hack noted.
Region Three Chairman, Julius Faerber, declared that a worthwhile venture has been made possible for residents of Canal #1 and its environs. He said the region is known for the production of a number of fruits and therefore the establishment of the factory is a timely one.
The Chairman also noted that the factory will be able to supplement the income of the residents since it will be creating more than 50 jobs.
Mr. Abdul, who once resided in Barbados, said by coming home, he has finally realized his dream which is to establish the juice factory and create employment for people in his community.
The businessman pledged that, by 2011, he will have more than 50 employees since his focus will be on expansion. He said the products will be exported and sold locally.
Abdul said he has already been guaranteed an overseas market and his factory is capable of making over 550 liters of juice per hour.
The Al-Aziz Splash Inc. produces the brand ‘Flavour Fresh’ and has a line of natural fruit juices, drinks and distilled water.
