Two survivors still hospitalized, three others discharged

Kwakwani fatal accident…
TWO of the survivors of the Kwakwani fatal accident which claimed the lives of motorist – Remington Wade and another man, Terry Budberg last Wednesday, remain warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital, while three others were discharged over the last few days.

Those still hospitalized are:  Thirty-seven-year old Contractor, Mark Adams who was at the time of the accident, transporting Rusal employees to Aroima and George Shakespeare, 45, who was ‘hitching a ride’ in the pickup which crashed into the bus.
Adams is recovering slowly from a broken left leg, broken right rib bones and injuries to his head. He was taken to theatre last Thursday for corrective surgery, but continues to suffer excruciating pains which was evident when this newspaper visited. His condition has been listed as critical, but stable.
The other patient, George Shakespeare, a self-employed logger who was travelling from his workplace “Five Manaka” to Kwakwani in the ill-fated cruiser, suffered fractures to his left hip and leg. He is expected to have an MRI scan done today and surgery later this week.
Wade is expected to be buried at Kwakwani on Saturday, while arrangements are being finalized for Budberg who hails from Linden to be buried in his hometown, also on Saturday.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Osafi Johnson, allegedly shot by police in a case of mistaken identity on Sunday, remains in a critical condition at the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Relatives were yesterday afternoon at his bedside and trying to keep composed when this newspaper visited. Johnson, who appeared to be in great pain from a bullet wound sustained to his back, was lying listless, but trying to keep his eyes open.
The teen was shot around 14:30 hrs Sunday, in front of his home, Phase One Mandela Avenue, after he was mistaken for wanted man Tyrone ‘Cobra’ Rowe. Two others who were at the time with Johnson when the incident occurred were identified as Dexter Bentick and Chad Ronald. Bentick, who was grazed by one of the bullets, was said to be in a stable condition but could not be located at the hospital.
