PLEASE permit me space in your column so I can air my views about two things that are worrying me.
One of them is that I have been looking at the GT&T advertisement long talk. It is most disgusting to see a child prominent in the advertisement. The government speaks out against child labour and abuse. What would one categorise that as?  It’s a shame especially to the parents of that child. GT&T and the parents and the television station should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such a situation.
Another point, when you look at the television, promoters of various shows have clips with women in the most vulgar and lewd grab. Over the time some artistes from the islands have been banned from coming to Guyana for the same reasons. What’s the use? Our local people are doing the same and even worse. Look at Carib Beer and Mackeson Stout advertisement and many others. We have children looking at television too.
The authorities should really do something about the shameful situation.
