City businessman did meet with Superintendent West

WITH reference to an article published in the Kaieteur News on Monday June 14, 2010, under the caption “City businessman fears for his life”, the Guyana Police Force wishes to confirm that Mr. Milton Brandford did meet with Senior Superintendent Colin West during which he complained about himself and nephew Colis Brandford being ‘harassed’ by ranks attached to the police motor cycle patrol.
The particular rank identified was questioned and he denied conducting searches on the vehicles of the Brandfords on a frequent basis or making uncivil remarks to them.
Milton Brandford was requested to submit a statement in order that investigations into his complaint can be conducted but he declined, stating that he could not remember the specific incidents in relation to date, time, vehicle he was driving at the time and so on. However, he requested that the rank be warned to desist from his actions.
Mr. Milton Brandford was contacted and requested to contact the Commissioner of Police on the issue, but has not done so.
