The Ministry of Agriculture has been distributing planting materials and pesticides in an effort to expand the production of non-traditional crops. Thursday, farmers of Supenaam, Region Two, who attended the interactive meeting held by the Ministry of Agriculture at the Supenaam Farmers’ Wharf benefitted from planting materials and chemicals to control pests.
In attendance were Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud, Chief Executive Officer of NDIA Lionel Wordsworth, Director of the National Agricultural Research Institute Dr. Oudho Homenauth, General Manager of the Guyana Marketing Corporation Nizam Hassan, Region Two Chairman Ali Baksh, and other officials from the Ministry.
While the farmers did not openly express any challenges facing them, they were given the opportunity to interact with officers who provided some guidance in relation to issues raised.
