Other hospitalised but…

One defendant in failed shooting robbery remanded
ACTING Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday refused bail to Desmond Williams, 22, on a charge of attempting to commit robbery under arms.
The defendant, of Lot 1267 ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, pleaded not guilty
to the attempt to rob Oudit Seenarain on June 4 but Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, successfully opposed the grant to Williams, who has been remanded through June 21.
The Prosecutor also informed that the defendant’s accomplice is presently hospitalised.
Defence Counsel Patrice Henry submitted that the case is one of mistaken identity and said Williams has an alibi.
However, the virtual complainant, who was in Court, said the crime was committed in front of a Lions Club Day Care Centre and his child could have been seriously injured.
Seenarain said, when he took the child there, the defendant and another man attacked him, one of them armed with a gun and he responded with his licensed weapon.
Seenarain said, as he drew his firearm, the other shooter opened fire but was wounded and the defendant rode away on a motorcycle.
