Minister Webster urges Guyanese to play their role in hastening development

Minister within the Ministry of Finance, Jennifer Webster, who attended the flag raising ceremony held in Region Three on Tuesday night, urged Guyanese to safeguard and build on the rich diversity
that bears the foundation of Guyanese culture and dedicate themselves towards the maintenance of the struggle that gained Guyana independence from Great Britain in 1966.

Minister Webster noted that despite the challenges that occur, all Guyanese must live and work together.
She emphasized that Guyana has come a long way as a nation and the Government has a vision for a brighter path, which will improve the living standards of all Guyanese.
She told those gathered at the Regional Democratic Council Compound, Vreed-en-Hoop, which included school children from schools along the West Coast Demerara, that Government has been continuously enthusiastic about further development of the country; hence it implemented the Low Carbon Development Strategy, which will benefit not only Guyana, but the entire world.
The Minister encouraged Guyanese to play a role in the country’s development in order for it to hasten and as they celebrate the 44th independence anniversary with pride they should emulate the values of the ancestors for their hard work and dedication.
“Let us with pride and perseverance dedicate our energy to build a nation that is free from fear. Let us embrace and propagate the spirit of patriotism, the spirit that makes us all proud to be Guyanese, irrespective if colour, class or creed,” Minister Webster urged.
Regional Chairman, Region Three, Julius Faerber gave a brief history of the struggle for independence by fellow Guyanese patriots.
Faerber stated that after independence, Guyana’s development accelerated, thus better roads, water and health facilities, and new schools were built leading to a better standard of living.
