Sears-Murray told the Guyana Chronicle there has since been positive feedback from all the schools after several sessions in them, the last being at Bygeval Secondary, on East Coast Demerara.
She said GPL has also produced four 15 minutes radio talks on energy conservation for the schools and brochures and posters are on display at the learning institutions to create awareness among the students, who have been quite receptive.
Sears-Murray said GPL gave each student in the 18 schools tokens for the programme which coincides with the National Debating Competition in which they are also taking part.
The GPL/IDB undertaking, aimed at increasing awareness about managing electricity in the home, as well, will conclude in October.
The first part of it entails the dissemination of information to schoolchildren by distributing literature, placing advertisements and hosting talkss.
For the debates, GPL will be submitting topics for discussion, based on climate change and the management of electricity/energy but the participant schools can also make suggestions.
IDB has been supporting GPL for a number of years in schemes such as the Unserved Areas Electrification Programme (UAEP).
