Fifteen-year-old  Daneeka Marks, of South Ruimveldt Gardens, has won the brand new Nissan Titan – the first prize in the fourth drawing of the KFC/Pizza Hut Way to Your Dreams Promotion.
The presentation of prizes took place on the lawns of KFC on Vlissengen Road, with 30 persons walking away with prizes that ranged from one large pizza to laptop computers.
Speaking with the Chronicle , Central High School student Daneeka said that she is ecstatic about winning the vehicle.  She said when she got the call that she had won the Titan she did not believe it, but quickly realised that it was indeed a reality.
“Although I was excited I considered it to be a blessing,” the young girl told this reporter quite casually.
When asked about her family’s reaction to the prize, she said that her mother was ‘ecstatic’ and her aunt “started calling everybody she knew, the same night.”
She also indicated that her step-father will be the one driving the vehicle since she does not have a licence and also cannot drive.
Accompanying Marks were two of her school mates and her mother, Sonia Maxwell.
Other prize winners also commented on their prizes.
Justin Yaw, 29, of Princes Street, Werk-en-Rust, who won one of the Nokia Smart Phones, said that he is happy he won a prize because he has never won anything before.  He added that he will continue buying from KFC and Pizza Hut. He had hoped to win the vehicle.
Twenty-four-year-old Kobina Hope, of Buxton, East Coast Demerara, and winner of one large pizza, shared similar views and promised to continue buying from the two outlets.
Laptop winner Ramnarace Badall, 55, a security guard, expressed his gratitude and said he will continue to buy from KFC until he wins a vehicle.
All the other winners present were overjoyed to have won prizes and pledged that they would continue to support KFC and Pizza Hut.
This is the first competition that KFC has done in collaboration with Pizza Hut, and it will be continuing until December with a drawing every month. Thus far, four vehicles have been won, with the Nissan Titan being the first of its kind.
The next drawing is slated for June 1, 2010.
