WHO can deny that the Health Sector has not been making tremendous strides in its plan to modernise the State’s health services, especially with regards the delivery of quality health care? The announcement of a US$50,000 plan to upgrade audio visual training for nurses is but another practical demonstration of this sector’s determined commitment to upgrade the working skills of its staff.
There is no denying that nurses are the linchpin of any medical institution; for without them no hospital can expect to function. They are the doctors’ arms and legs, so to speak. Patients depend on them, and psychologically, they impact on their patients. Nurses, therefore, are indeed a key quantum, for the weighty responsibilities that they carry.
And with so much being said about these adherents of Florence Nightingale, such an announcement, made in Nurses Week, should be seen as due recognition of the important role of the nation’s nurses, and also the care and comfort of their charges.
