Break and enter and larceny accused on $70,000 bail

Troy Hinds, 38, (no address given) yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to answer a break and enter and larceny charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that on April 12, he broke in the dwelling house of
Charles Pederson and stole one television valued $70,000, one kitchen sink priced at $9,500, and three teddy bears valued $6,000, among other items, all valued at  $106,000.
The defendant said on the day in question he was going home when people in the neighbourhood told him that someone broke in the virtual complainant’s home. He said he knows nothing of the offence.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, had no objection to bail, but requested that it be sunstantial. He said after the virtual complainant saw the defendant with his television and a bag, he raised an alarm and the defendant was apprehended and charged.
Hinds was put on $70,000 bail and the case was transferred to another court for June 9.
