MEMBERS of the Joint Services yesterday conducted a cordon-and-search exercise in the Stabroek Market area of Georgetown, where 23 people were arrested.
Those detained were found in possession of various offensive weapons when searched by the team comprising Guyana Defence Force (GDF) soldiers, ranks from the Police Tactical Services Unit (TSU) and Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
It was reported that knives, ice picks and other weapons were also taken into custody, amidst the confusion that snarled traffic shortly before midday.
