GOOD Samaritan Home, in Berbice, was the beneficiary of some proceeds from Link Show 26, recently staged in the ‘Ancient County’. Making the presentation to Ms. Jacqueline Henry, President of St. Vincent De Paul Society, which manages the affairs of the geriatric home, was Ms. Claudette Liddell-Watts.
The latter told the media last week that her catering company Wattsans, which usually hosts the annual satirical show, had asked Director, Mr. Ron Robinson, of Theatre Company and Producer Mrs. Gem Madhoo-Nascimento, of GEMS Theatre Productions, for a donation to a project, following the hosting of Link Show 25, last year.
However, while it was not received then, following the recent showing, at Berbice High School, the gesture materialised.
A resident of the hostel, Ms. Avril George, a former National Insurance Scheme (NIS) staff nurse, expressed gratitude on behalf of her peers and exhorted other groupings to emulate the example.
The Link Show, first performed in 1981, continues to thrill audiences with its subtle messages, bold and daring satire, slapstick, efficient management and great comedy.
The cast includes Henry Rodney, Nazim Hussain, Howard Lorrimer, Ajay Baksh, Lavonne George, Simone Dowding, Sherry Ann Dyal, Sonia Yarde, Michael Ignatius, Linden ‘Jumbie’ Jones, Kijana Lewis, Tishondra Innis, Clement Stanford, Quesi Edmondson, Francis Bailey, Raymond Persaud and Paul and Sean Budnah.
