A report was made yesterday to the police at Eve Leary and at Brickdam, both city wards, regarding the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl and her siblings. Senior members of the Guyana Police Force yesterday confirmed the report and said they are investigating, but remained mum on the impending arrest of the alleged rapist, who has since been identified.
The media was promptly called out yesterday afternoon, during a downpour, when the police was expected to show up to arrest the suspect but they did not show up at the man’s home, also located in the city.
It was sometime before the media group dispersed, while a statement was being circulated.
It is alleged that the girl, now 13, was being raped by a prominent businessman/politician and owner of a television station since she was seven. She also stated that he did the same to her siblings and would receive $2,000 per week after sexual intercourse.
The girl added in the statement that she and her four sisters were all raped and sexually abused by the businessman over a period of time.
A detailed statement relating to the matter has been lodged with the police.
